Distance vs. Displacement

An example of distance would be im "standing on a number line" im at (7) i walk 5 blocks more. The total length i traved was ( 7 + 5 = 12 blocks)
An example of displacement would be my initial position is 0 i go to 6 then go back 3. The total displacement would be when i started at 0, i went 6 blocks.. Then went back 3 .. Which made me go back to 3.0 .
The difference between displacement & distance is that distance is saying how far you went .. Displacement ment your starting postion.. Then where you went next.. Then there.. Then you final position. The displacement would be more of the description on what you did(procedure to get to your number)

Barbie Bungee Data

Today in class we experimented with barbie dolls bungee jumping. We put barbie doll in a rubber band & tied them together .. Let her fall & marked her distance fall when whe had 1 rubberband it was 43 cm
2) 61 cm
3)73 cm
4)81 cm
5)95 cm
6)110 cm
7)130 cm
8) 143 cm .. I see a random pattern , i see it go from i 12 distance from most of then so if it was there were 10 rubber bands i would get 167 cm ,
If there were to be 20 rubber bands i would've gotten 323 cm , if it were to be 30 i would've gotten 458 cm .. The way i got this answer was sence the distance from my 1-8 rubber bands was mostly 12 i added 12 x12 each time .. So sence it was 10 runner bands i would've multipled or added it (12) .. 12 twelve times

Metric Units

We use the metric system because in life evrything is envolved by measurements. We measure water.. Gallons,Ounces etc , meaure weight pounds /kilo.
The neighborhood i live in, has 3 examples of metric units.
1.when we cook we have to use a certain amount of butter so itll say we have to use 2 ounces.
2.when we go down the street its 5 yards, when they remade the ground cement they had to meausure the ground to make sure they didn't pass the amount that it was suppose to be.
3.a way we also use metric units at my house when we meausure the bed, we have to see if its width & length .. So if for us to know we would meausre in inches

Estimating Distances

I had the task of estimating my house i thought it would be pretty big. I wasn't but i measured the front door with my foot... I counted & i got about 59 foot steps beggining from the edge of the fence to the other side of the parking lot.If my foot is a size 8 then i would multiply it but 59.. That means that our house is 489 feet. The reason i feel that this estimate is reasonable is because the width of my house is also 59 feet.& the length would also be 59. So i just multiply that.in total the area would be 489.

Reaction Time

Reaction time is the time you have to between the time you are about to do something .
ex:in class we were watching the movie there was a baseball player... They were determining wether the blink of an eye was faster than hitting a baseball. It turned out that hitting the ball is faster. That right there is an example of reaction time
               My own experiences
1.) In class we were seeing we had an assignment we had to text & catch a ruler .. & my eyes were more focused on the "texting" than catching the ruler.. My reaction is was so slow that the ruler fell to the floor
2.)There was a day when i was vaccuming.. My moms vase was brand new & the stand it was on... Wasn't stable she still had to tighten a bolt.. When i was vaccuming i hit the loose leg,,the vase was falling i had to decide weither to turn off the vaccum / go & save this brand new vase. The vase almost broke ..i was able to save the  vase .
3.)my last time i had a reaction time was when i had a phone without a case.. It fell & it was on the edge of a table. I was cooking. My phone fell. & the pot was smoking hot. I left the left to get my falling phone i wasnt able to get it but its a time when my reaction time didnt make it..
