Mass & Newtons First Law

Newtons first law of motion is often stated as, An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

Inertia is a roperty of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force.

In class we learned how inertia & the newtons first law share the same elements. Three ways that we see everyday that inertia and newtons first law relate is 1, a car crash. The car is loosig control .. Your trying to stop the car but you can't so only a wall or another object heavier than the car woyld be able to stop the car. Which would mean this relates to inertia as well as newtons first law. 2, a snow ball. You throw a snowball and a berrier would have to stop it , that force that would stop it would be inertia.. 3, soup falling off a spoon. The plate would be the normal force , but soup is falling off the spoon and to make this being related to inertia to newtons first law would be the plate to stop the drop of soup to keep moving so it would stop moving.

Inertia Investigation

In class we had various examples of Inertia.. What is Inertia? It is the natural tendency if an object to remain at rest or to remain moving with constant speed in a straight line when the forces are balanced. 
 3 ways that inertia was shown in class was sation c which involved a snowman and a pencil which stopped the car from moving. 2, station b.. A card holding the quater, a cup underneath. 3, station E.. Its a edd being spinned and then you have to stop it with your finger .
One example that an object continued to move would be when the raw egg and the boiled egg would be spun and you would put your finger down to stop it. The raw egg didnt really even move to begin with because its insides kept going in a different direction, instead of going with the raw eggs outside direction. The boiled egg had a hard inside so which ever direction it wen it go go, and if you stopped it, it would still continue.

Why does friction happen? 
   Friction acts as a resisting force to relative motion between two surfaces are in contact with one another. For example,a car on the road. the tires are in contact with the ground, this creates friction between them.

    A surafce that would create the mu bigger on the shoes would be the concrette ground . The ground would have more ressistance.. Which would double the mu

The object is a box, and it isnt moving so it haa four elements fapp,forceN,forceG,ForceF 

Each force stands for something

Normal force: the support  of force put on an object that is in contact with another stable object.
Gravitational force: the force of attraction between all "masses" in the earth
Frictional force:that is created whenever two surfaces move or try to move across each other
Applied force/Fapp : it is apllied force, uts force that you put the energy into what ever the object is

Balanced & Unbalanced

An example of two free body diagrams is 1. A ball on the table & 2. A ball on a diagonal plane
1. Is balanced because its on a even place suppose the newton would be 3N so it would be 3N going upward & downward it's gravity is keeping together, meaning it wouldnt fall to anyother side(Balanced)
2. The forces on the ball wouldnt be balanced. Their would be more newtons going downward which would make it go  downhill. Suppose the newton is 10 it would be 8N downward 2N upward.. All the force applied is going down. (Unbalanced)
