Elastic vs. Inelastic

Elastic vs. Inelastic ? what is what?

Elastic is when an object bounces off of each other but dont collide. example :when people run and they crash in the halls  ... they dont stay together they end up in seperate ways.

Inelastic is when two objects come together and they dont seperate. example: two cars collide .. and they can't seperate because of the amount of force put in to it. so it would be just one "object"

Elastic collisions

what does momentum mean? it is the property or tendency of a moving object to continue moving.

 In class we learned about momentum, and the question that poped up was a train at rest or a skatebord ; which has a greater momentum? 

If an object is at rest means no movements.. no velocity, so the momentum of the two objects is at zero. Objects at rest have no momentum. which mean neither of the "variables" have a greater momentum.

Work vs power

What is work? Work is done when a force that is applied to an object moves that object.

What is power? Power is that rate of doing work its equivalent to an amount of energy consumed per unit time.

The main relationship / difference between the two is time. Work is the energy necessary to move an object from one point o another.....think... Moving a table with a finger. To the living to the dinning room. The power is in the rate which energy is being used.this example , if you push an object slow you are putting very little amount of power, but it will take a bit longer. But if you push quickly , you'll use more power but accomplish the same task quicker .. The work done on the object is the same even if the person made more of an effort
